SE 4 – Reports
of Assessment Results
Through e-mails (May
2006; October 2006; April 2007) and meetings (May 2007; April 2007; March 2007;
February 2007) all special education staff is advised to include
recommendations for services in their evaluations. This will continue to be
reviewed next year at special education staff meetings. Person(s) responsible

SE 18 –
Development and Content
Writing measurable goals
that address behavior, play, peer interaction, emotions, and pre-academics was
reviewed at a workshop presented by Naami Turk, PsyD, Consulting Clinical
Psychologist SPS, to early childhood staff in March 2007. All special education
staff will review writing measurable goals that address social, emotional and
behavior in the fall at staff and Professional Development meetings. Person(s)
responsible for implementing and monitoring: Judith Kuehn, SPED Administrator 8-12; Arlene Grubert, SPED
Administrator K-7; Amy Steinberg, Preschool Coordinator.
SE 55 Special
Education Facilities and Classrooms
Signage at Cottage Street
School has been removed. There are temporary signs that say ÒMrs. BoyleÓ ÒMrs.
WedgeÓ. John Marcus, Principal, reports that new signage will be put into place
next year. Person responsible: John Marcus, Principal. Signage at East
Elementary School is as follows:
The speech/language
pathologistÕs room is labeled: ÒReadingÓ; the resource room is labeled ÒReading
CenterÓ and the team-based classroom is labeled with the teacherÕs name (Mrs.
Phinney). The OT/PT room will have the room number as the sign. Person

Handbooks & Codes of Conduct
The handbook for each of
our schools, at all levels, do contain and have contained policies related to
the discipline of students on Section 504 plans. In addition, the handbooks
have been revised combining policies for discipline and harassment.
English Learner
Education
ELE 4 and ELE 10
– Waiver Form
Parent Notification Form
is sent home to the parents when students are entered into English Language
Education at the beginning of each school year. This form contains a Waiver
Form, which parents can sign saying they do not want their son/daughter
enrolled in English Language Education. Person(s) responsible for implementing
and monitoring: ESL teacher at the Middle and High schools and ESL teacher at
the elementary level.
ELE 18 – ELE
Report Card
The ESL teacher and the
Director of English Learner Education are in the process of drafting an
elementary report card and a secondary report card. This will be in place
before the start of the school year (2007). ESL report cards will be sent home,
enclosed in the same envelop as the general education report cards, and with
the same frequency. Person(s) responsible for implementing and monitoring: ESL
teacher at the Middle and High Schools and ESL teacher at the elementary level.
