WRITER’S WORKSHOP - 4 weeks
Instructor: Jane Tebeau

Do you have creative ideas, but find it difficult putting your words down on paper? Do you watch television shows or read stories and believe that you hold million-dollar plot lines in your mind? Well, why keep it all bottled up inside when you can share your brilliance with others? What better way to get those thoughts out than by sitting around in a casual environment while sharing ideas and stories with others who are in the same boat as you. Loosely academic, this class will focus on basic grammatical form and content in fiction writing. You don’t have to be the best speller, or a riveting storyteller to join. This class will involve lots of round-table (or floor circle) discussions where every participant will feel at ease sharing their stories. And, don’t worry if you suffer from a form of mild (or major) literary stage-fright because we will all be helping and supporting each other as we put those creative thoughts into written form.

YOGA FLOW FOR RUNNERS, CYCLISTS, AND ATHLETES - 10 weeks
Instructor: Robyn Parets, Breathe Joy Yoga

ENROLLMENT LIMIT: 20
Runners and bikers often exercise alone, enjoying the solace while their bodies are on “automatic” pilot. Through this class series, we will work on stretching the hamstrings, lower back, quadriceps and hips, bringing balance back to the body.
This flowing yoga style will also help strengthen the entire body, while incorporating breath work to deepen your internal focus. As this class series is dynamic, students should be in good physical shape and without any major injuries. This class is open to men and women. Students must bring a “sticky” yoga mat, bottle of water, and wear comfortable clothing. Please call 781-784-4848 for questions and directions, or go to www.breathejoyyoga.com

LETTING GO OF DETRIMENTAL THINKING - 6 weeks
Instructor: Gary Fugere

The human mind is capable of astounding accomplishments, when at peace and uncluttered. Unfortunately, a very small percentage of us reach that potential, primarily because the mind is engaged in trivial, demoralizing, ego-centric thinking. Concentration and well being can't be attained when the mind is preoccupied with living either in the future, or in the past. Fear, guilt, worry, and revenge are born from a distorted perception of reality and result in needless suffering. This class provides tools and insight into how to control and focus your thoughts to identify when you are engaged in non-productive thoughts and how to achieve a calm, self-confident state. Read lessons, participate in exercises, hold discussions with fellow students, plus receive personal coaching from the instructor. Runs for 6 weeks and is self-paced. Complete the lessons on your timetable. Course requirements include intermediate PC skills and a PC with recent version Web browser. For more in-depth information and FAQ’s, visit www.gsinet.org. HOW TO PLAY PIANO BY EAR - One Night Only
Instructor: Ed Korman

Contrary to popular belief, anyone can learn to play by ear. This workshop shows you the inside secrets professional piano players use (but seldom reveal). You’ll learn how to pick tunes right out of your head. In addition, you will learn how to get songs off the radio (think of the money you’ll save on sheet music). You’ll even learn how to transpose and improve your musicianship overall. This workshop goes beyond mere “ear training”. After this unique class, you’ll be picking out tunes by ear—with both hands—from the very first day. Open to musicians (not just piano players) who have a basic understanding of chord theory. Beginners should take Instant Piano For Hopelessly Busy People as a prerequisite. Guided by the course workbook and included CD (developed by the founder of this workshop), you can continue to perfect your technique at your own pace.
