Re:         Asbestos and the Sharon Public Schools

This notification is required by the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act(AHERA, 40 CFR  part763 of Title II of the toxic substances control act).

Envirotest Laboratory, Inc.* is under contract with the Sharon Public Schools to generate and maintain the school department’s 3-year AHERA plans and subsequent re-inspections.  The licensed inspector has concluded that all visible asbestos frequented by students and staff throughout the school were properly encapsulated and maintained.  Envirotest Laboratory, Inc. and the Sharon Public Schools Maintenance and Operations Department are very confident that students, faculty and staff are not exposed to the potential hazards of airborne asbestos fibers.

Asbestos Management Plans have been developed for the Sharon Public Schools.  Each building’s plans are available and accessible to the public at each individual school’s main office during normal business hours.  A complete set of all the school buildings plans are available for review at the office of Maintenance and Operations during normal business hours.

Thank you,
