Alternative School Board/School Council The Alternative School is directed by a Parent/Teacher School Board. Parent board members help facilitate the needs of teachers and ensure the smooth operation of school functions, events and policies. This cooperation between teachers and parents is crucial to our unique educational community. Should you have any questions, problems offers of assistance or suggestions, please contact the board member whose function closely relates to your issue. However, please remember that parent board members do not dictate classroom policy. If you have a
question about a classroom situation, a student, or an AS parent
worker, please contact the particular classroom teacher. Messages can
be left in a teacher's voice mailbox so teachers can contact you at a
convenient time. Occasionally, a parent may have a program idea or a concern that he or she would like addressed at a monthly board meeting. If this is the case, the parent should contact either of the board chairpersons or the board member whose job most closely matches the issue. After discussion and input from other board members, the chairpersons will decide if the issue will become an agenda item or if it might be better resolved or explored in another manner.
